I too am embarrassed about being hairy, back included. Although the surveys and forum topics that you see online would all indicate that, in general, girls/women don’t like hairy backs, what is never clear is what variation in opinion exists across different demographics. For example, are older women or more nerdy women likely to be any more tolerant?

It raises a larger question of body hair in that you may not find out how much hair someone does or does not have until a point that the discovery threatens to destabilise an otherwise satisfactory relationship (depending on how far into the relationship you are when you make the discovery).

That itself is related to the matter of fetishes and preferences that one might choose to hide until it’s too late: you have to either terminate the relationship or live without it potentially for the rest of your life (which we see on wetlook forums happens again and again).
