It does get complicated! To what extent are we expected to remain “in character” all our lives? Do you never have “out of character” moments when you realise that you’re actually in character and just seeing a side of you that is normally trapped inside? There is a line from the film Paper Towns, “The way you felt tonight … that is the way you should feel your whole life.”
There is a very fine balance involved, between not going far enough, and going too far, and navigating that path under the pressure of time with complete strangers is not easy.
(The question of whether or not we are attractive is not ours to decide :) If someone figures I’m handsome, it doesn’t matter what my own opinion is of how I look!)
Yes, so many things are easier when you are not alone …
