One movie where they got it right was "Real Steel", where in the future boxing is outlawed and fighting robots are now used (think real life Rockem-Sockem Robots). A former fighter played by Hugh Jackman goes to a junk yard in the middle of the night with his son (about 10) to steal and salvage an old robot in the middle of a blinding downpour. After sliding in the mud and getting soaked, the father decides he's had enough and leaves the boy behind, who is still determined to salvage the robot. Because it's dark it's difficult to see how wet they are. The next scene at sunrise shows the kid pushing the robot down the road on a cart towards his dad's truck. He is caked in drying mud, his clothes are still damp and his hair disheveled. After they get the robot back to the shop the father asks the kid to hose it off and he gets wet again.
As a movie it was OK, but a has a good but brief wet scene where the continuity people got it right.
