You're lucky to have friends that make you feel comfortable. I'm personally the opposite of "shy," but I still am glad that the friends I grew up with didn't tease me or make me feel uncomfortable when I'd go swimming in my clothes. It sounds like you had the same kinds of friends.
I did laugh when you described how the lady at the dunk tank yelled at you to take off your shoes and socks first. It makes me wonder, if they're OK with you wearing shirts and pants in the water, what on earth makes them draw the line at shoes and socks? OK, shoes I can maybe understand, but socks?? They'll dry just as well as anything else you're wearing. Why are people so particular about stuff like that?
