Most of the hotels I have been to do not have a lifeguard at the pool. It is 'swim at your own risk'.
Howver, it is still not widely accepted to swim clothed in a hotel pool.
A friend of mine pushed me in a hotel pool while I was wearing a tee shirt, jeans, socks and shoes. Others in the pool freaked out as if they had witnessed a crime. They went to report us to the front desk, we ran up to our room. We were 3 guys staying there for a baseball game.
