Today was the day I carried out my daring plan: to get into the water fully dressed and see how the swimming instructor would react. Max and I had come up with a seemingly perfect strategy to make it look as natural as possible.
I arrived at the swimming lesson in jeans, a white T-shirt, a zipped hoodie, and socks. To ensure I was initially excused from swimming, I told the instructor I had sprained my ankle. While he allowed me to sit on the edge of the pool, I could see the skepticism in his eyes. That was exactly what I had anticipated.
Max executed his part perfectly. While I stood idly by the pool’s edge, he "accidentally" pushed me into the water. It was a spectacular splash, instantly grabbing the group’s attention. The water was cold and surrounded me with a mix of heaviness and refreshment.
My hoodie clung tightly to my arms like a soaked curtain, while my white T-shirt blended with the water, becoming wonderfully transparent and revealing the contours of my body. The weight of my wet jeans briefly pulled me downward, but I instinctively paddled to the surface. The clingy, soaked clothes added to the unique sensation, making the moment even more thrilling.
The instructor watched the scene with surprising calm. Instead of pulling me out or reprimanding me, he simply allowed me to keep swimming. It felt as though he was curious to see how far I would take it. The hoodie slowed every movement, and the transparent T-shirt made it clear that I was far from dressed appropriately for this lesson. Nevertheless, I swam a few laps, slower than usual but determined.
After class, the instructor spoke to me. Without scolding, he kindly suggested that I bring a change of clothes next time so I wouldn’t have to sit in wet clothes in the classroom. Was this a tacit approval to continue participating in full clothing in the future?
I wasn’t sure, but the idea intrigued me. In my mind, the plan was a complete success. Next week, I would definitely show up in full gear again – this time adding sneakers to enhance the effect. Plus, I’d pack a spare set of clothes in my bag to be better prepared. Swimming class had never been this much fun.
