I was seen once by 'some cop' when I wasn't muddy, but soaking wet after a creek swim/walk. I was wearing jeans, a grey long-sleeved sweatshirt, briefs, sneakers, and black socks. The creek was next to a gravel road which had a metal closed gate about 3 car lengths back from the road. The view past the gate was blocked by trees. So I parked on the side of the gravel road far enough over and far enough from the gate so any large vehicle could easily get through. As I got back into my car to leave, the gate opened and a police car started to come through. He saw me and turned his lights on. So we both get out of our cars and he asks me why I'm wet. I tell him that I was walking in the wooded area aside the creek and got in the water to cool off. He looked pretty surprised, and tells me that past the gate is private property where his father lives whom he was visiting. I never went past the gate. He said that his dad's property line extends to the street and that I was trespassing. The cop walked around my car and looked inside briefly and told me I was free to go.
Another time, I was almost seen by a co-worker when I was wet, probably wearing similar clothing as in the above story. It had rained and I decided to go a different creek than the 'cop creek' for some water play. I parked on the side of the road and followed a path through some trees to the creek. That evening at work, a co-worker said that she had seen my car parked on the side of the road and almost stopped because she thought it had broken down. She said that she was in that area visiting her sister. At the time, I had a rather distinctive Ford Mustang Convertible.
I said that she must have seen a car that looks like mine, but she was sure that it was my car that she had seen (it was but I didn't tell her that!). At that moment, our boss came in to the room with papers in his hand and began talking to my co-worker about something work-related. After he left, we got busy and she never mentioned seeing my car again. But that was definitely a close call as was the 'cop creek' incident.
