I wore torn work socks and my old work boots. I discarded the socks but wore the boots to work Monday. The boots had developed leaks in the side, and that was helpful in reducing the water pressure. The boots were still damp Monday morning, but my body heat dried them. I didn't worry about leather shrinkage, as the steel toes held the leather in place.
