No, I don't think I've ever seen anyone else getting muddy on public land or hiking trails, and it's a shame. This is a hot climate, and where mud is available, it's a great way to cool off. Even the mountain bicyclists try to avoid the puddles.
I have heard of mud runs, but I've never gone to one. It doesn't make sense for me to pay $50 or more for something I can do for free. Anyway, I'm not very good at running and prefer mud at a slow and leisurely pace.
