No Joy In Mudville

Well, another mud event bites the dust due to covid. My beloved Mud Bowl, held in North Conway, New Hampshire every year has been canceled. Just got the email. First time this has ever happened since the games were started in the late 1970s - even a hurricane didn't stop them one year. They have been played in torrential rain, intense heat and extreme cold and even managed to survive a law suit that nearly shut them down forever. While it is no surprise it is a disappointment.
Only one mud run I know of that is still "on" and that will be run here in Maine in a few weeks. The guy is working frantically on building obstacles and designing the course. Not sure how he is getting away with it or plans to keep people safe, but that's his problem. He comes up with some great obstacles and always has fantastic mud - so maybe there will be some joy in Mudville after all for a very brief period.
Hopefully next year things will be better.
