Tube Well Swimming

Over Christmas I came across video clips of something called “Tube well swimming”. A tube well is when water is pumped up from a borehole and then stored in a reservoir. The water is then used to irrigate the fields in the area. In the video clips it shows mostly boys and men jumping in and out of the reservoir totally soaked with the clothes that they have on. What stands out is that in most of the video clips both boys and men are soaked in traditional clothes that look like pyjamas. Thin cotton long sleve shirt and thin cotton loose trousers. The white and light blue traditional outfits look fantastic as they splash around in the reservoir and you can see everything.
