Hi Zonie - Sorry, I (Pete) accidentally typed YOUR name instead of MY name in my last message. I was trying to consider my response to you, and I'm tired and was also trying and failing to multitask, so I made an embarrassing mistake. My apologies!

What I do want to say is, I live in an area affected by the disaster. I'm fortunate that my community didn't get as severely impacted as others, but we do have local, state and federal responders on scene here in my own community. I've also been in emergency services since before I even graduated from high school, and I remain close friends with colleagues based in the hardest-hit areas. I've lived in these mountains my entire life and know the people, and know how physically taxing it can be to respond to emergencies in this environment. My wife and I have opened our home to our coworkers from across the region who have been impacted by the disaster, so that they can have a safe place to sleep, shower and eat while they repair damage in their own homes. I know how the public sometimes gets the wrong idea about what we do and WHY we do some of the things that we have to do. I also know that sometimes we make mistakes, and we try to learn from those and do better next time. I also know that a disaster of this scale makes EVERYTHING more difficult.

This isn't a forum for politics, but I will simply ask that you respect my own first-hand experience from LIVING this disaster, and that of my close friends who I've literally trusted with my life, and would gladly do so again. I'm not running a psy-ops campaign here. Rather I'm just an random guy who enjoys keeping my shirt on in the water, who happens to help out at the local fire station when I can.

I will also offer that, if you are in the area here in need of disaster assistance and have not been able to secure the help you need, please let me know. I'm hardly an important person, but I work with people and if you are in need of aid, I will promise you I will get your information to the people who need it, and will do my best to give you an honest and transparent update on the response to your need.

But if you're not in the area here affected by this disaster, then I'd suggest that we do what we do best here at wackywet. Let's go find a nice outfit, and then head to wherever our favorite pool, beach, river, bath tub, hot tub, dunk tank, mud puddle, or whatever happens to be located, and go have some good, clean, wet fun.

I hope all remains well with you and you are able to enjoy some wonderful wackywet experiences soon!
