I spent several hours wallowing at a Mudbowl! No seriously, an actual mud bowl. It was a shallow bowl roughly circular about 200 feet across and the water was only chin deep in the middle. But Oh the shore... See, you could not get to the water without walking through some of the sloppiest stickiest stainiest red mud! This enclosed pond is on the perimeter of a lake system that gets drained every fall. And when the lake is drained this pond is exposed. I found it by using google earth and wanted to check it out because it looked very secluded. When you're in the bowl, nobody on the lake can see you because of the sides of the bowl and because the water level of the lake has dropped. Its also very remote by land. There is a place to park that is not too far but there is no path through the woods. I just had to make my own path and find my own way.
I returned there yesterday to treat another sweatshirt and tshirt to a nice reddish brown. They come out great looking, like a muddy tie-die. Some fabrics turn darker, and some turn lighter. For instance my t-shirts are thin cheap Gildan brand. By the time they have been treated, washed and allowed to dry, they are a basically a shade of tan with very slight variations. Up very close you can always tell they have been through the mud. But at a distance, they just look like any other tan/orange garment. One sweatshirt I treated came out almost yellow (very light tan) while another one came out so dark, it looks like those Carhartt work pants. Its funny, I have always considered that color "MUD".
Any way, I wanted to make myself a nice mud colored hoodie for the winter for when I can't go out to play in the mud. And now I have along with a few 2x mud colored tshirts.
Now my question for you all is this: Would anyone be interested in either sending me a white garment you want to have died in this mud OR you could pay me to purchase a white garment (you specify what you want on amazon with a link) and I would treat it as I have described. I'd tack on $20 per garment as my fee for the mud die work and shipping it back to you. I wouldn't recommend starting out with anything other than white because dies don't stick as well to fabrics that are already died.
