That's definitely the best way.
My parents never moaned at me for getting wet if it happened.
Dad hardly ever started the water fights but was happy to join in and mum just stoically put wet clothes in the wash or dryer as needed and never told me off. There was advice not to get wet and muddy in my best clothes, not because that was bad in itself, but because they would be spoilt if I wanted to look smart (yeah, like that was ever going to happen any time soon !!).
