For those who wax nostalgic on the subject of the proper way to break in a brand new pair of Shrink To Fit Levi's 501 Blue Jeans, there is no better demonstration than that which appears in the "Logan's Lesson" installment of "The Adventures of Spin and Marty" series which appeared on "The Mickey Mouse Club" television program during the 1955 season.
In that episode, Triple-R Ranch tenderfoot, Marty Markham, breaks out a brand new pair of Levi's 501 Blue Jeans. His pal Ambitious show him the proper way to break them in, dunking them in a horse trough and then subjecting them to all manner of dragging, kicking and rough handling through the dirt.
Of course, to this particular wet Levi's aficionado, the best scene in the whole series occurs in the last episode when a boy falls into a horse trough in his Levi's during the Big Rodeo. I was only four years old when that episode first aired, but the scene burned itself forever into my brain as I contemplated over and over again, even way back then, the fantasy of getting wet in like fashion dressed in my little dark blue Billy The Kid Texan blue jeans.
Incidentally, you can find the collector edition DVD set on eBay and perhaps elsewhere online.
