Hey ! What a lovely day it is !
Rain is falling and blessing the earth,
we get soaking wet and life is beautiful.
We've finally cracked it, early this morning.
The goose is out.
Life is one great game, a play.
The point is to combine the calmness and compassion of the Buddha with joy of living of Zorba the Greek
into a form of spiritual hedonism!
Compassion
Our inspiration comes from a 14th century monk, Saint Aquafer,
who dedicated his life caring for those who were outcast because of leprosy or other illness.
He poured water all over them to bathe them, which was a real blessing.
Today you can still see the pouring water a symbol of compassion and benediction.
To remind us of his work, we still use water in our daily contemplation and wear the blue robes.
Our Blue Robes
You can recognise us worldwide by the royal blue robes we often wear.
These are usually made of quick drying material because
members of the public like to pour water over us as a blessing.
We also wear our blue robes during our aquatic meditations.
They are loose fitting and very comfy, both wet or dry.
This feels good and brings great joy.
Share Your Joy
Life can be one big party, with wild moments and quiet contemplation, like
watching the sunrise by the sea after a wild foam party night.
Forget philosophies and ideologies that cause suffering.
Clear your mind.
Start living here and now.
There is nothing to achieve other than to bring wet happiness into your world
and pour it all over you.
If everything we do follows this maxime, then
amazing things will happen. Let's simply find new ways to communicate and
share, to enjoy the exchange with likeminded people.
Aqueous Meditation
If you really want to treat yourself to something very special, try this:
Fill up the bath tub with warm water and plenty of shampoo or bubble bath.
Put on your meditation robe, usually unlined nylon rainwear or poncho, nothing else.
You can wear two layers of rainwear if you like.
Get into the bath and make sure you duck under so that it all gets completely wet.
Now sit up or stand up in the bath and pour in a good amount of shampoo or bubble bath into the collar of your rainwear.
Rub it around well all over until it gets all foamy inside.
If you wear rainpants, foam them up as well.
Then rub foam all over the outside of your clothes.
If possible, get a friend to join in and help you with this.
The result is an extremely pleasant feeling of soft foam and wet nylon all over your body.
It can be very relaxing after a while.
May Peace and Love and Water always be with you.
Aqueous refers to a solution in water.
A more exact definition is a solution in which the solute (the substance dissolved)
initially is a liquid or a solid and the solvent is water.
Water Retreats
Several times a year we organise a water retreat.
We get together with other aqueous monks and lay people to have a wet and peaceful time.
Our daily routine looks a bit like this:
- Early Morning Bath
This prepares us for the new day.
Put on your meditation robe and get into a foamy bath.
Or swim in a pool, lake or the sea.
Release all pent up tensions.
Clear you mind for the new day.
See below.
- Rain Meditation
This is very relaxing and peaceful.
Sitting silently, doing nothing, rain falls and blesses the earth.
We do it in the shower or in the garden under the water sprinklers.
If we're really blessed it rains.
The whole point is to get wet slowly, as an awareness training.
Listen to the drops falling on your robe.
Watch them roll off.
Notice how some water seeps inside, touching you gently of the face or shoulders.
After a while put down your hood.
Allow the water to get into your hair, run down your shoulders, your back and front, down to your legs.
Watch how it makes its way in little streams between your skin and your clothes which get heavier as they soak up the water.
You may only get partially wet, but that is where the awareness comes in.
- Water Fun
If you're still dry from the previous meditation, this will now change.
Prepare to get really wet.
We play with buckets and hose pipes until we're all soaking wet.
- Afternoon Swim
Swimming is an important part in our day.
It brings us into the here and now.
- Evening Bath
Put on your meditation robe on and relax in a foamy bath.
Again release your tensions.
Clear you mind and let go.
See below.
- Tantra with Friends
Ask Google for details.
Meal Times
On hot days we eat outside and occasionally pour a little water over each other as a blessing.
Afterwards, we get the hose pipe out to wash the dishes and each other. Great fun.
